The Disney op-ed is a project from my Illustration class, we were tasked to pick an article from a news source of our choosing, about a current event or issue we thought was interesting and then create an illustration for the article. I chose an article discussing how Disney Studios was losing money, leading them to lay employees off. In the end, I felt the best way to illustrate this article was to have Mickey Mouse walking down a line, looking upset while money is flying out of his pocket as he’s trying to keep it in. I felt the face of Disney should’ve been incorporated front and center and that it should show he wasn’t happy about what is going on. The feeling is that while the money is escaping his pockets, he has to accept defeat.
